PART 2.
How effective is the combination of your main product and ancillary tasks?

I feel that the combination of my main product and ancillary tasks are very effective.
I believe this as I have created continuity throughout the pieces by using the same font and setting throughout for the logo Hi Five! and for all of the characters names on the video.  This causes brand identity. By doing this synergy occurs - My magazine cover, dvd cover and opening titles all work to promote each other.  This is the font and colour scheme I used throughout my work.

Continuity and brand identity is shown above through the package of Tracy Beaker products.
The same font and style is used throughout the TV programme opening sequence, DVD cover, book cover and magazine cover.  As well as the same font used being used throughout all of the products, the same cartoon style images and main image of the main character Tracy are also used.

When it came to editing, I used a simple repeated action – freeze frame sequence which is often used in examples of children’s TV dramas.  You can see a similar technique used in Famous Five below.  The freeze frames, I chose purposely to sum up each character’s personality, meaning the audience are introduced to them without any need for dialogue.

Here you can see where I have used the freeze frame technique with my characters Ashley and Daisy and how the freeze frame technique was used in Famous Five with the character Anne and in the Sleepover Club with the character Fliss.
As you can see, I used the same style font for the characters names as the Hi Five! logo which continues brand identity.

My DVD and magazine work together as well as individually as they both use the same Hi Five! logo and animated images of science equipment, football, lips, food and a jesters hat.  They also both use pictures with the cast in the same costumes.  By using all of these things which relate to the opening titles video creates continuity throughout all of my products.  They also promote each other by the video promoting the programme by allowing the audience see a clip of the programme.  The DVD promotes the programme and the magazine promotes the DVD and magazine as by watching the opening titles causes you to want to watch the programme, if you are watching the programme then you want to watch the DVD and if you are watching the programme then you want to read more about it therefore buy and read the magazine.

My DVD and magazine covers follow conventions by using fun, energetic and youthful images the same way that other children's TV programme DVD's such as the Sleepover Club do (right), which intices the audience to watch the dvd or read the magazine, also markets at the young audience well.
